We here at Brownings would like to invite you to participate in the second annual Give Thanks parade and celebration. This event started last year as a way to let the community know just how we feel about our men and women who have and who are still serving our country. The look of devotion on the faces of the men and women who attended was so overwhelming that words can not even began to describe it. Hearing the sense of pride that flowed when they spoke brought tears to the eyes of everyone that heard their stories.

The events last year included a spirited parade, hotdog cookout, M.A.R.S. to send love ones messages, free castle bounces for the children, live music featuring Dave Stahl and Reid Moore and lots of give a ways. We also collected letters to send to our troops over seas and items that were much needed. We ended a memorable day with a donation from the cookout to the local chapter of the DAV and taps. All I can say by the end of the taps there was not a dry eye in the area.

The event this year will take place on Saturday May 17th at 10:30 am. We will start with the parade to be followed with the cookout that Chat n Nibble will be preparing the food and let me tell you Alice can cook a mean hot dog. The hot dog meal will be for sale and all proceeds will be donated to the DAV, but don’t worry we feed all of our veterans for free that day. Then we will have music, booths and a whole lot of fun. We will also be giving away door prizes throughout the day to all the past/present military personnel. The day will close with a moment of silence followed by taps.

Keep an eye out for upcoming ads in the Henry County Local and flyers around town for additional information.

P.S. If you or your company would like to donate a door prize please contact me day or night so I can arrange to have it picked up and have a receipt ready for you. This event could not be possible without the generosity and support of our community.
